Sonic Pi plays Church Bells!

1280px-StHelenWittonBelfry1

I have added an article and program which generates a sample based Chimes voice for Sonic Pi, and uses it to play a Quarter Peal of Church Bells.

The program is similar to the one I did for a harp based voice. You can read about it and download the program and the folder of samples here.

You can hear the start of the Peal here (The whole thing lasts over 15 minutes!)

  1. I’ve always been fascinated by, and totally ignorant about bellringing – ever since reading Dorothy Sayers’ Nine Tailors at about 10 years old. I’d love to have a go some tme, but there isn’t much bellringing in Belgium (only carillon, which isn’t quite the same!).
